The Alder Bridge Team

Our Trustees
Dorit Ferreira
Chair of Trustees
Dorit joined Alder Bridge Community when her daughter started school in Class 1 at Alder Bridge in 2013. She has been a Trustee since 2014, following previous trustee roles at other charities in the UK and Germany. Dorit took over the role of Chair in March 2017. Dorit has a background in the Public, Private and Voluntary Sectors and has been advising small businesses and charities on business planning, marketing, and development over the last 10 years. Building a solid 5-year plan for Alder Bridge School (ABS) and improving processes was her main endeavor when she joined the Board and she continues to provide support in these areas and plan for the following five years.

John Dawson
Honorary Bursar/Trustee
I have been involved with the School since around the time the property at 5, Christchurch Gardens was being purchased to open our first Kindergarten. As well as being a Trustee I have served the School in many roles, in particular looking after the finances and IT. I have served on various management groups throughout the School's history, including the original College.

Although I am not an Anthroposophist I have had a long involvement with the Theosophical Society, so I am well versed in the esoteric tradition which underpins the life of the School. I have an MA in Physics from Oxford University, and have worked in the IT industry for many years developing software. I have effectively taken early retirement and supplement my pension with some freelance work, mainly for local non-profit organisations.

So I am currently in the position of being able to offer my services to the School on a voluntary basis. My day to day work as Bursar includes keeping the School’s accounts, paying suppliers and staff, invoicing parents for fees (and chasing them when they don’t pay). I also produce regular forecasts for the School Management, deal with concession applications, and work on financial planning in collaboration with the Finance Group and Management Team.

Nick Swift

Teachers

Ann Morgan
Kindergarten Teacher

Ravinder Kaur
Class 1 Teacher
I was born and raised in London. I completed the London Steiner Teacher Training at Rudolf Steiner house in 2013. I also hold the NVQ Level 4 Waldorf Early Years qualification which I completed in 2015. I'm currently in my final year of the Bothmer gym training programme which enables me to teach Bothmer to the children. I have four years teaching experience in an alternative school in London that followed the National Curriculum, and two terms of experience in the Brighton Steiner School.
I have a deep passion for the Waldorf curriculum. This curriculum has allowed me to see child development from a different perspective and fostered my love of teaching. Outside of work life I enjoy travelling, cooking (as a vegan it’s always interesting!) as well as crocheting and knitting.

Eleanor Hase
SENCO and Learning Support Teacher
I was born in Hong Kong and my Dad still lives there, I have 2 sisters and 1 brother. Hong Kong has a special place in my heart and I am hoping to go and visit with my children soon. I went to boarding school in the UK from 12. After school I had a fantastic gap year where I taught English in India, child-minded in Hong Kong then travelled to see the Great wall by train and the continued by train to Ulann Baator, Irkutsk, Moscow, St Petersberg and then to Helsinki.
I went to university to study Stage Management and became a technical stage manager. I then did an executive secretarial course. I worked for a few years as a personal and team assistant before I decided I wished to become a teacher.
I trained on the job in Reading and then went onto work at St Joseph's in Newbury.
I have two lovely children a girl, Ciara aged 12 who has a variety of additional needs and a boy, Oscar aged 9, who is typical, but as individual as all children are. The last 4 years I have worked hard at Spurcroft both as a class teacher and as a specialised intervention teacher. I love seeing what a child can achieve and helping them be interested in the world.
I love reading and spending time with my friends and family. I often go out for meals to catch up, as I love to talk! I have changed my career and I have completed many things in my life. I feel I am not a boring, typical person. I cannot wait to meet everyone and start my role at this school.

School Staff

Jayne Mills
School Business Manager
I am passionate about lifelong learning and I love to be in the company of children, so working in a school environment is a perfect combination for me.

Having spent time in the University, College, local government and business sectors, I hope to bring a blend of skills to the Business Manager role that will enable the school to grow and develop to its full potential.
My past work experience includes being Director of Sport at Cardiff University, lecturer at UCOL and Massey University in New Zealand, Economic Development Manager at West Berkshire Council and Marketing Manager at the Prudent Marketing Company. Developing and growing the potential of a business is something that I am experienced in and I am keen to do at Alder Bridge.

Having worked in the Sports industry for a number of years, I love the great outdoors, walking, cycling, wildlife, the coast and camping!

Rachel McCrory
Education Manager
With a background in Theatre-in-Education and 6 years experience as a secondary school teacher, I first joined Alder Bridge School as a parent when my daughter started Kindergarten in 2002. I was so impressed with what I saw that I retrained as a Steiner-Waldorf Class Teacher, completing the WESTT course in 2006. During my years at Alder Bridge I have run a Parent and Child Group, been a Kindergarten Assistant, taught across the Lower School and co-ordinated the admission of all new children. As Education Manager, I now support and manage the teaching staff, ensuring that they have everything they need in order to be the best they can be.

Lynn MacLauchlan
Personnel Officer
I've been Personnel Officer at Alder Bridge School since February 2016.

With a young family (Maia, aged 7 & Myles, aged 6), I very much appreciate the need for quality education, creativity & general happiness & health for little ones.
I have been a Stay at Home Mum since my Son was born but prior worked as a HR Admin Officer at the National Strategies (which I appreciate is very different to the Steiner ethos so eager to learn more).
My career has centred around HR, training/events & administration (all within education) and I'm excited to take on this new role; hoping I can make a positive contribution to how your school runs with both new and existing members.

Please feel you can say hi and introduce yourself as I love meeting new people.
I'm also a keen cake decorator/baker/crafter (& enjoy making things with my children).
I must confess, however, I have never mastered knitting (or decent sewing) so any tips appreciated!

Joanna Box
School Administrator
I joined Alder Bridge in September 2013 to cover the Office Administrator while they was on maternity leave. Fortunately for me, Laura came back to take a new role so I continued as the Office Admin, on a part-time basis until June 2015 when I took on the School Administrator role.

The School Admin role here at Alder Bridge is vast and diverse. As well as manning the School Office and keeping things ticking along, I also have a number of additional responsibilities including, First Aider, Fire Warden, Health & Safety Officer, Early Years Liaison with West Berkshire Council and Tenant Manager to name a few.

Life as a full time School Admin and a mum of two boys is pretty hectic but I love both. It mixes things up and no two days are ever the same.
