Vacancies at our school

Alder Bridge School was established in 1987 by a pioneering group of parents and has been running an Early Years, Kindergarten and Lower School provision to a minimum of class 5/6 ever since. We are a co-educational, fully comprehensive independent Steiner Waldorf school.

The school is situated in beautiful semi-rural surroundings and we are privileged to have our own woodland for the children to explore as well as a woodland classroom. Our grounds provide lots of play and learning opportunities, with vegetable plots, willow structures and simply space to run.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All post-holders are subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS (formerly Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure. All staff have to undertake Child Protection Training.

Alder Bridge School is located between Newbury and Reading in Berkshire, 5 minutes from Aldermaston Station, which is a 40 minute train journey from London. To get in touch please contact recruitment@alderbridge.org.uk or Tel: 0118 971 4471.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All post-holders are subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS and barred list check. All staff have to undertake Child Protection Training.

We are an equal opportunities employer.

Alder Bridge School has been going through an exciting period of change and preparation for growth with many new initiatives and opportunities.

The legislation around Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) has changed over the past year and the school has successfully implemented the changes to its provision. This is also in line with our strategic plan, which guides us over a five-year period.

The Trustees are responsible for the overall governance, strategy, and direction of Alder Bridge School. There is a good spread of skills in the leadership team covering strategy, finance, operations, media, personnel management and an understanding of Steiner education and the wider educational landscape.

The Trustee dedicated to SEND, however, has stepped down, and we are now seeking a new member with an interest and/or experience in education and SEND to support Alder Bridge School on this new and exciting path.

Trustees have monthly board meetings, usually held at the school and in evenings, plus any other meetings with teachers etc. around 6 times a year. Alder Bridge Trustees are volunteers and this position is offered unpaid. Reasonable expenses incurred will be paid in line with our Trustee expenses policy. A DBS check and signing of a non-disclosure agreement are required.

The application process is ongoing until role has been filled.
